1/22/2024 0 Comments Fantage shutting down![]() ![]() ![]() Developed by, Inc., Fantage was released on Apby founders David Hwang and Peter Bae. NOTE: FANTAGE IS NOT SHUTTING DOWN! THIS WAS JUST WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF IT SHUT DOWN. There is also a private server of the game being made, similar to how fans managed to recreate Club Penguin and Toontown Online with private servers after they were shut down. Development History / Background: Fantage, short for Fantastic Age, is a social MMO for children aged 6-14 that features cute, customizable avatars in a fantasy world full of mini-games. That’s all them questions I got! How would YOU react if fantage shut down? What would you do on fantage the day before it closes? Have fun with my friends on fantage, and we could all have a blogger meetup. What would you do when you saw a note on fantage saying they are shutting down? Do a post on it ASAP. How would you react? It really depends WHEN it will shut down. What would you do about blogging? Either turn my main blog (This one, AgentFantage) into a life blog or the game I move onto to. What would you do? Be sad, I guess, then move on to a new game sooner or later. If I win the lotto, I’m buying it and start hiring some original artists and devs. What am I doing? Why do I send this to people?Īnyway, what would it be like if fantage shut down? What would WE be like? I’ve gathered some questions to ask myself! Anyway, it’s likely futile to try because I don’t have the trademark and rights to Fantage. One of the things I never got the chance to do was bring the full game on mobile. And since it’s all 3D, I’d add the option to go full VR. I’d be making it so you could play the game with the old environment perspective with options to go free form 3D so you could move the camera where ever and play from a third person view. Wish I had the resources to kick off a New Fantage type online virtual world. I often think about creating a 3d version of all the worlds and Npc avatars just for fun. I had little creative control despite my position at the company. What would you do on fantage the day before it closes Have fun with my friends on fantage, and we could all have a blogger meetup. Unfortunately, I felt unappreciated and underpaid. Too many all nighters, weekends, but it was a lot of fun anyway. ![]() It was a lot of work trying to evolve and improve the visuals over time and continue to expand the world, adding new features and games. Worked there for 5 plus years before leaving. I joined Fantage in April 2011 and it's still jarring to know that a game that made up a large portion of my childhood is gone forever.įantage was my first creative job out of college. Attempts have been made, but they either suffered from a lack of momentum, lack of an experienced team, or even the official Fantage team giving out cease-and-desist notices. ![]() In June, it's going to be five years (god I feel old) since the original game shut down, and there haven't been any methods for anyone to properly experience the game ever again. The original Club Penguin ended up being too reliant on memberships, and it was far past its glory days by the time it shut down ( a month-long Frozen party? Give me a break), not to mention there were, and still are, a few private servers out there, particularly Club Penguin Legacy, so it's possible to cure your nostalgia itch if you're ever thinking "Man, I sure do miss playing Club Penguin".įantage, on the other hand? There are no Fantage private servers. I don't have anything against Club Penguin (prior to 2013, at least), it was a huge part of my childhood as much as Fantage was, but hear me out. ![]()
